Captain of your own boat for a weekend or a week! No need for a licence and piloting is child’s play. Follow the guide – our destination experts have dreamed up suggestions for departures from Sireuil, Jarnac or Cognac. Enjoy your voyage along the Charente !

Our first suggestion :
Cruise from one village to another

Saint Simeux

Your voyage on the river Charente starts at Sireuil when you meet the charming Audrey from Inter-croisières. You’ll have help for your first lock experience then head for Saint-Simeux, a delightful Village of Stone and Vines. The river stop is fully equipped and is an ideal starting point for admiring the fisheries before enjoying a meal in one of the two restaurants or a concert in the Pub des Gabariers, facing your boat.

Les îles de la Fuie

Destination Cognac

If you’ve got children on board, tie up at the îles de la Fuie and follow the path leading to the Bain des Dames. Here you’ll find play areas and a sandy beach, Flow Vélo for cyclists and an open-air café-bar. In other words, something for everyone! The Tourism Office is open from June to September.

Various shops and services are accessible on foot in the centre of Châteauneuf-sur-Charente – just right to do your shopping !

Saint Simon

Welcome to the gabarrier village ! A well-equipped river stop that enables you to benefit from the amazing past of the village with a discovery trail or the little museum. The terrace of La P’tite Gabarre is delightful in the high season (A gabarre is a flat-bottomed sailing barge).

Destination Cognac

Second suggestion :
A royal epicurean cruise

Cognac

What better place to start your royal epicurean cruise ?
Welcome to Cognac, home to the famous eaux-de-vie and host city of the 2022 Michelin stars ceremony. Rent your boat from Canalous and then wander off to explore the cobbled streets of the birthplace of François 1st, in search of the best of local products. The covered market is a good place to start !

Bourg Charente

The next day, head for Bourg-Charente. Don’t miss the stunning views of the châteaux de Bagnolet, de l’Yeuse and Saint-Brice.
The magnificent Château Grand Marnier welcomes you on arrival. Opposite, the river stop is well equipped and ideal for discovering this delightful Village of Stone and Vines. After your walk, have a meal at La Ribaudière, a starred restaurant for many years now.
