Memo. Souvenirs du Futur à la Fondation Martell
The Tuesday 01 July at 14 a.m00
Fondation d'entreprise Martell 16 Avenue Paul Firino Martell 16100 Cognac
The exhibition Memo. Souvenirs of the future presents the work of 20 European and non-Western artists, designers and collectives who question the impact of human activities on ecosystems through the prism of memory.
The exhibition was prompted by the announcement, at COP27, that the government of the Tuvalu Islands (Oceania) had decided to digitize the entire country in order to preserve its memory and culture, at a time when it was in danger of disappearing due to flooding.
By interpreting current anthropogenic disturbances, these 15 projects propose a number of approaches to try and halt the degradation and disappearance of landscapes, biotopes and species, in which our sensory and gestural memory, constitutive of our humanity, is based.
Anchored in territories with diverse realities, the works are an incentive to remember and, above all, to react to keep alive the memories of the many species that surround us.
