A beautiful 14km route awaits you in the heart of the Jarnac region. With Hervé, we'll take you along the paths through the cognac vineyards, stopping off at a ‘modern’ distillery for a private tour! Throughout the day, we'll be telling you all about the history of this golden-yellow nectar that is cognac, the trading houses and the great families of merchants who have made our Charente region famous. Hiking is also about taking the time to stop off in hamlets full of flowers, to enjoy the rural heritage and to observe nature from the sidelines. At the foot of the historic château of Bourg-Charente (owned by Maison Marnier-Lapostolle), we'll take the towpath up the River Charente as far as Jarnac, where we'll learn about the history of the Charente's inland waterways in the days of the barges, as we pass through the locks on the Flow Vélo itinerary. It's a ride that's sure to provide plenty of fun and enjoyment, ending with a tasting at the Renard winery, steeped in history and part of the angels (Maison Courvoisier).
At the halfway point, picnic stop (with packed lunch) at the Logis de la Barde in Julienne. End of the route with a tasting strictly reserved for adults (alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health, consume in moderation).
14 km circuit (7 km morning + 7 km afternoon). Easy route suitable for beginners. Open to all. Bring a water bottle, good walking shoes… and a picnic!
