Nature & Heritage" walk with Sandrine RICHARD and Sandrine PILLON, herbalist from Charente & Botanic' Apéro
It's in this exceptional setting in the village of Bassac, around the Abbey bordered by the Guirlande, that Sandrine and I propose this botanical outing to discover the edible wild plants that grow at this time of year. With her sense of sharing and her professional experience, my fellow herbalist Sandrine PILLON will guide you on this exploration of nature to spot, smell, touch and even taste these edible plants whose medicinal virtues and culinary uses we are often unaware of. This exceptional landscape is the setting for the Benedictine Abbey of St Etienne, a landmark in the village of Bassac with a history stretching back thousands of years. This is an opportunity to learn about monastic life and the importance of gardens in the time of the monks, who long mastered the cultivation of medicinal plants in their ‘jardin des simples’ and the preparation of essential remedies for everyday ailments.

The walk will conclude with a Botanic’ Apéro, during which you can sample sweet and savoury plant-based products (cakes, pestos, etc.), not forgetting a few of Sandrine’s secret drinks. Recipes to share and discuss over a drink and a few planchas! A convivial and original aperitif, followed by a picnic in the countryside, straight from your bag!
