The Foundation will unveil an exclusive cast of the giant fossil tree discovered at the Angeac-Charente paleontological site.
On Saturday, January 25, the Foundation is pleased to invite you to the "Thousand-year-old trees – From California to the Charente" event.
On this occasion, the Foundation will unveil an exclusive cast of the giant fossil tree discovered on the Angeac-Charente paleontological site in 2023. The nearly 15-metre-long tree, dating back 140 million years, will be on display in the Continuum – JB Blunk exhibition, which has been reopened for the occasion, and will interact with the artist’s works, made from the remains of redwoods native to Northern California, where he was based.

11 a.m. to 7 p.m.: open house
11 a.m. and 5 p.m.: guided tours with a cultural mediator (duration 1h)
3pm: Lecture – Léa de Brito (paleobotany researcher at the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle de Paris) and Jean-François Tournepiche (paleontologist) will discuss fossils and what they tell us about environmental change, the preservation of living heritage and the contemporary challenges facing our forest ecosystems.
